As we continue our yearlong celebration of impactful mentors, leaders, and community champions, Micah Bradley-Freeman steps into the spotlight as Voice #23 in our 25 Voices series.
When Micah first discovered Girls on the Run, she immediately connected with its mission. As a runner who began her own journey in 2020—finding strength, stress relief, and personal growth along the way—she knew firsthand how impactful movement could be.
“I love the concept of GOTR,” Micah shares, “a youth development program that uses running, games, and group discussions to build girls' confidence, social skills, and physical health.”
So when the opportunity arose to coach with the UrbanPromise after-school program in Trenton, she jumped in wholeheartedly. Micah guided her team through lessons, laps, and life skills—helping girls discover what they were capable of both on and off the course.
Today, she continues championing the GOTR mission as a Volunteer Ambassador, building awareness, enthusiasm, and support for the program throughout the Trenton community. She also serves as a sparkle runner at the 5K events, cheering girls forward with every step.
A First 5K to Remember
Micah’s favorite memory comes from her team’s very first 5K in Princeton.
“The smiles on their faces after finishing were awesome,” she recalls. “One of the girls said she was proud of herself for finishing. If you’ve never run a 5K, it can be intimidating—but once you finish those 3.1 miles, you feel a real sense of accomplishment.”
It’s the kind of moment that stays with you—and one that continues to fuel Micah’s passion for expanding GOTR’s presence in Trenton.
Committed to Community Health
Outside of GOTR, Micah has dedicated more than 24 years to Trenton Public Schools. As the district’s Supervisor of Nurses, she oversees the Office of School Health Services, develops programs that support student wellbeing, and collaborates closely with school nurses and community partners.
“I enjoy developing health programs to support student learning and meet student needs,” she says. “Working with GOTR has been wonderful—especially with Suzanne Elliott, Executive Director.”
A Vision for the Future
Micah was thrilled to see Cadwalader Park host the Fall 2025 5K—a joyful milestone for the Trenton community—and she hopes it becomes a staple location for years to come.
“I hope GOTR NJ East will regularly host Fall and Spring 5Ks here,” she says. “And I hope the school district will partner with GOTR to create a lasting relationship.”
Through her coaching, advocacy, and leadership, Micah is helping create a future where more Trenton girls have access to confidence, connection, and joy.
Thank you, Micah, for your heart, your voice, and your unstoppable commitment to the girls of Trenton and beyond.
