Board of Directors Opportunity
Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd through 8th grades. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident through an experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Founded in 2000, Girls on the Run NJ East is an independent council of Girls on the Run International, serving more than 1,800 girls annually across Burlington, Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Morris, and Union counties in New Jersey.
We’re growing our Board of Directors at Girls on the Run NJ East, and we’re looking for passionate leaders who want to make a difference for girls in New Jersey!

- · Enthusiasm for supporting fundraising growth
- · Experience as an entrepreneur or scaling a small business
Most importantly, we’re looking for champions who believe in the power of confidence, connection and joyful movement to help every girl reach her full potential.
Board members help set the strategic direction of our organization, ensure that Girls on the Run NJ East has adequate resources to continue delivering our program, and provide oversight to monitor and strengthen our programs and services. Board members serve a 2-year term, with a maximum of 3 consecutive terms.
Requirements for Board members include:
- · Attend and participate in Board meetings (5/year).
- · Attend Board/staff annual 1-day retreat, held in July/August.
- · Conduct 1 site visit/year to observe program and present Run for a Reason fundraiser.
- · Attend 3-hour coach training session in either spring or fall season, every 2 years.

- · Give/Get commitment of $1,000/year. Raise funds via a personal fundraiser, securing a corporate sponsorship, a personal contribution, or other. Contribute to overall fundraising efforts in other ways, as needed.
