Girls on the Run NJ East is pleased to announce nonprofit professional Suzanne Elliott as its new Executive Director, taking on the role established by visionary founder Sydney Davis in 2000.

“The organization is in bright, capable and talented hands with Suzanne,” said Sydney, who served as founding executive director for 22 years. “I am confident Suzanne’s leadership will spark many positive changes for the girls we serve in the years to come.”

Suzanne brings to the role her experience in the nonprofit sector and her dedication to Girls on the Run - as both a volunteer coach and executive board member at Girls on the Run Los Angeles and a 5K running buddy at Girls on the Run New York City. Here in Mercer County, Suzanne started a Girls on the Run team at her daughter’s elementary school in Pennington.

“I have seen firsthand our program’s transformative power,” said Suzanne. “Our inspirational founder, Sydney, guided and built this organization with wisdom, empathy and a remarkable ability to bring people together to empower girls. I look forward to carrying on her vision and building on her legacy.”

Suzanne’s 20 years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector include leadership roles at organizations including Dress for Success Worldwide and National Down Syndrome Society, in addition to nonprofit management consulting for multiple national organizations.

“Our executive board is delighted to welcome Suzanne, and I am confident her amazing background in nonprofit management, board service and volunteering uniquely position her as the ideal leader to follow Sydney’s two decades of service,” said Girls on the Run NJ East Executive Board Chair Ann Brodow. “Suzanne is poised to guide our organization as we grow and expand our reach across New Jersey.”

Sydney will remain involved with Girls on the Run, supporting the organization through its leadership transition.
